Making design a part of the experience

Skepparns is a new Mecca for foodies who want authentic flavors in a vibrant environment. But unlike other trendy restaurants in Gothenburg, it is not located in the city center – but in a marina with stunning archipelago views. We helped Skepparns create a design concept that combines a marine artistic idiom with a modern visual expression.

For the love of sailor tattoos

One of the primary sources of inspiration for the design concept was Christian Sten, owner and chef at Skepparns. His love for sailor tattoos, passion for food, and straightforward personality inspired the graphic elements. The result is a modern and playful visual identity that showcases the flavors and rustic craftsmanship through logotype, imagery, and tonality.

A bold and contemporary logotype

The logo is designed to draw attention and establish a blue horizontal base for the layout. The underlined, genitive letter s at the end of the logotype is used as a logo symbol.

Imagery with an edge

We paired the playful illustrations and tonality with edgy imagery to create a unique visual identity. All photos capture authentic moments in a busy composition, using hard flash and tight cropping.

Taking the concept further

The visual identity was created so the different parts could easily be extended on their own. Among other things, we made branded merchandise and applied the eye-catching illustrations inside and outside the restaurant.
